Whispering
is used for a max. of 2 listeners.
The interpreter usually sits right behind or next to the listener and whispers into his/her ear. This type of interpreting also means 'noise' for the persons sitting close to the interpreter and the listener and since the interpreter depends on the acoustics of the room, he or she also needs to 'filter' the speaker's voice against all the 'noise' the persons in the room make. Thus this type of interpreting is only used in very special cases.
A tour guide is a mobile alternative for more than two listeners and can be used for max. 20 listeners. there are only special situations in which it can be used.
We would be delighted to advice you on which type of interpreting suits your event best.
